Hey everyone, I’m a Puerto Rican writer from NYC working on a concept for an open-world crime game inspired by the Cape Flats in South Africa (fictionalized version, not 1:1). It’s gritty, grounded, and cinematic — think GTA meets City of God, but set in an environment that’s never really been explored in gaming.
Right now, I’m just looking for one dev (Unity or Unreal) who’d be down to jam on a tiny vertical slice with me. Just basic stuff to start:
-
Player movement (walk, run, crouch)
-
Basic combat (light melee & shooting)
-
Simple driving system (doesn’t have to be polished)
This is passion-project level. No pay up front. The goal is to get something solid enough to build a Kickstarter around, and then bring on more people + secure proper funding and fair compensation.
For full transparency: I’ve never developed a game before. I’m a writer first. I’m not here to pretend I know code or game systems better than someone who does this. You’d be the one helping shape that side of it from the ground up.
No pressure, no crunch, no egos. You contribute when you can. If you’re into cinematic worldbuilding, underrepresented settings, and grounded storytelling in games, let’s chat.
Also down to hear from people familiar with the Cape Flats, or anyone who wants to help keep this authentic. Just DM me or drop a comment and I’ll reach out.
