Anyone on a "good guy" track?

Hi,

I've been treating my ladies really nice. Most of them are former thugs (from fights) and bought slaves. There are only 3 guys at the house. Me, Ansel and Doyle. Ansel is a great Tavern keeper and has been there from the start, while Doyle was one of the first people I picked up. I don't have gold walkers, floor walkers or anything of the sorts. Haven't dabbled in extreme "play" and things like that. Food is normal for everyone (unless they are getting fat), conditions are decent (could be better but no money) and I have even resorted to freeing slaves and get them a paid job (only 5 bucks for now, but I don't have that much money). Also haven't sold slave from the house, or even girls picked up in battle. I just sell the dudes. I even gave the cure from Caitlin quest for free (plus her freedom too).

Quite a few of my ladies aren't that great in terms of stats (as expected from street thugs) but I am training some, mostly with educators.

But.... how do I make money? My main income right now is a tavern. Fully upgraded and staffed, gives me about 1.5k a day. I have a few smaller investments too, nothing much. I'm averaging a "profit" of about 1k a day, excluding food, that I have been buying as the production is not enough yet. Also excluding whatever my scavengers bring in and the workshop produces.

I just bought the sawmill, but it's going to take a while to get going. I don't have a good foreman (need to train up) and for some reason I can't seem to find a way to assign guards to it. Oh, and I don't think I will send people straight from the house to the mill. I will "recruit" new ones. Probably just random dudes captured (but less money LOL).

Also want to take over the farm from the Averil quest but I need better (expensive) gear and want to save up some more first.

I knew playing the "good guy" would be harder as apocalyptical times usually bring out the worst in human nature and leaves us with the haves and the have-nots.

"I've discovered that you have to work twice as hard when it's honest"

Anyway, tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

Just figured how to send guards to the mill. Not happy that I lose them forever :(
