I wanted to show off a project I have been working on to learn Android Studio and mobile development. DynoReel an android app that can estimate your cars HP and Tq at a given rpm using your phones GPS.
What it does
- Estimates Engine RPM
- Calculates the acceleration of the car over time.
- Estimates the wheel horsepower of your car.
- Plots the Hp and Tq at a given rpm just like a dyno would.
- save and load run data.
Why i made DynoReel
if your a car person, you without a doubt have wondered just how much HP your car makes, especially after installing a new part. I wondered the same thing but getting your car on a real dyno is expensive, So why cant you just calculate it using your phone, new cars use roughly the same technique to give you a hp reading on the dash, so i figured might as well give it a try and try calculating the HP of my car using my phones GPS.

sorry but I feel like I have to give kind of a "LEGAL Notice" so to speak, Please, only use DynoReel on closed courses or private property where it's safe and legal to do so. to properly calculate your hp at higher rpms pretty much any car will be in the well over 100mph range. where its illegal and unsafe to do on public streets.
