Bug report? Super Mario Bros. level 8

I reached level 8 on the Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch (New Wide Screen) and found something weird, and wasn't able to finish it. After the first screen, on the transition, I don't know what happens and I die every time. Sometimes Mario moves by itself. Sometimes the floor disappears.

To be fair, I never played the original till level 8. I don't know if that level behaviour is as expected, but I found it weird and unplayable.

I've uploaded some gameplay to YouTube, if you don't know what I'm talking about. In fact you can find some Tetris RetroFab gameplay uploaded to that same channel recently.

Thanks for the feedback. It's definitely a bug! And thanks for including the video. It really helps to quickly figure out the problem. In this case it turns out the timer for the rotating beams from World 6 is reactivated in World 8, causing the game to start running part of World 6 at the same time. I've now fixed the issue across all 3 three editions of the game and credited you for your contribution. If you want to quickly test it without having to play through all the earlier levels, use the cheat code CTRL+ALT+6 to start the game from World 6.

Thanks a lot for the credit, and the cheat code! 馃槂

Now I will be able to complete my Super Mario Bros. G&W longplay. It's weird nobody reported that bug since the game was published. Happy to help, anyways.

In fact I found another small bug playing Zelda, and I'll tell you here to not open another topic.

When the ghost shoots the arrow from the left side, you need to press the action button to protect you with the shield. You won't get hurt even if you move around, as long as you have the action button pressed down. And on the second floor tile from the left, you get hurt from the ghost arrow, even with the attack button pressed. I have no video this time, but it's really easy to replicate.

Admittedly I should have picked up that bug in Super Mario Bros myself if I had done a full playthrough. And thanks for reporting the Zelda issue. Someone else did report that as well and both those issues require a rewrite of a large part of the code related to how the movement is implemented which will take some time. Hopefully it doesn't detract too much from playing the game until I find time to rewrite and test the code.

Awesome!

I'll keep doing my part, which is playing a lot and spreading the word. Keep it up! 馃檶

Sorry to report another issue.
Good news is that world 8 is fixed and playable, but the elevator at the end doesn't work. You can jump a couple times to get to the princess and finish the game, but yeah, there's something wrong with the platform.

I've uploaded my playthrough to YouTube. You can see what I'm talking about after the 10 minute mark.

Ah, thanks! I commented out a line during testing and forgot to uncomment it before release. Thanks for the heads up. It's now fixed in all 3 editions. You can use ctrl+alt+8 to test.
