Android problem

So I was downloading it and when I tried to stage it as an app to actually open it, it said that it was build for a earlier type of Android and wouldn't let me play it. So..how do i fix this?

Developer

I’m not sure, sorry. I tested it on my phone and an emulator, and it works fine on both, so it has to be a device issue. I tried googling your questions, but found no solutions other than ‘play on an older model,’ which isn’t really helpful.  Once the current chapter is finished (later this month) I’ll make an additional build using the most recent Renpy version, perhaps that will help.

Would you mind letting me know which model are you using? I’ll try to find someone with the same one to test it out on my end.

My phone model is Samsung Galaxy A33 5G (Model number: SM-A336B/DSN) I'm not really tech knowledgeable but I think that's what you're asking right?

Developer

Yes, thank you! I'll get back to you as soon as I learn something more about the issue (and hopefully fix it).

I was wondering if you had found something yet? It's just that your game seems so cool and it's rare you find good VN that can be played on android

Developer

Unfortunately, the reason why not many devs are willing to release games on mobile is that it’s hard to keep up with the updates and software changes, and it looks like I might have to stick to PC-only soon as well. For now, the only solution seems to be using an emulator. My friend linked me [this], so I’ll share in case you’re interested. That said, once the game is finished, I will make a new build, but sadly I can’t promise that it’ll run on your device. :(

that's alright, I'm sure you tried your best, dude. Not to worry, I'm buying a laptop soon and if I remember correctly it can be downloaded with it right? It said windows and macOS, right? If the problem can't be helped I'll just download it when I get the laptop.

Developer

Yup, it can be played on PC just fine, Windows or Linux. I'll let you know if I ever manage to find a solution for Android, though, hopefully there's something that can be done.

So, unsure if this will be helpful, but someone I know has a Samsung Galaxy S24 with the latest Android software update and they downloaded Avulsion on their phone.

For them, they had the same error as you, and there's a drop down button or arrow that expands and lets you read the entire message and it should say "Install anyway." They were able to download the game just fine despite the error.

If there's nothing like that, then your specific model does not allow it, which is indeed the case sometimes, and why the only way to know if an app will work on a specific model is to download it.
