For Kemo Coliseum, we decided that only matching 4 or more in a line will give you an extra turn. More gems in a match in this game already makes your action stronger. We want players to make a decision between an extra action or a stronger action, instead of going for matching more gems all the time.
An extra action in this game is also very strong, so making more patterns granting you an extra action might be too much. It’d be difficult to rebalance the whole game around this change at this point.
