1. Being forced to go to court to interact with characters.
I must say, after the update dropped, I honestly miss the old, simple character interaction menu. Everything was right there, it was just the person you're talking to and the camera was WAY better. I found it easier to navigate and more pleasant to the eyes. I still think the court SHOULD be there, but only if you click on the "court" button. The new system is less intuitive "for now, after all it IS new" and having to go into the court and THEN go to the NPC and interact with them simply takes more time than the old Menu "plus in the old menu, they'd stay put".
The court is really cool and I think it could help grant the NPCs more agency, but the old menu was WAY better for managing your NPCs and you didn't have to struggle with the camera.
2. Characters randomly having a lower opinion of you even after you JUST got them worshiping you and are taking very good care of them.
Characters will randomly have a lower opinion of you, even after you REPEATEDLY get them to worshipping you IN A ROW. They'll just go back to the lower value as soon as you leave the court until some RANDOM TIME when the game will decide to fix the issue.
3. lewd interactions straight up not working.
Despite having the NPCs at "Worships you", them being in a good mood, being taken care of, NEVER being mistreated, AND having known you for a long time, lewd interactions outright don't work. Perhaps it's a thing with the friendship system, but the only way to increase that for the player IS to engage in lewd acts, which you CAN'T DO.
4. The new cheat menu activation button "F8" DOESN'T WORK.
Whenever a game places a button on ANY of the "F number keys" I KNOW I'll never be able to access it because those keys REFUSE to have an alternative function on my PC. I understand that this one is more of a personal issue, but I'm SURE that other people will be rendered completely unable to access this menu as well. (the only reason I even use cheats at this point is because I've already gone through the experience of growing my base from the ground up, so when I want to get back to that point, I NEED those tools. ESCPECIALLY since those tools allow for more creative freedom with NPCs. Without the ability to make designs and outfits for them, they become bland and fail to stand out.
I understand WHY the key was changed. It's because the "C" key opens the character menu when you're in the court. HOWEVER, I'd recommend either A. changing the key to a number, or some other letter that's not being used OR B. Reverting the cheat menu key BACK to C and instead make it so you CAN'T access the cheat menu when in the court.
5. Traps are USELESS.
Invaders literally dodge EVERY TRAP regardless of said trap's level. And this super dodge happens in EARLY GAME. Once the raiders get to level 40, you can kiss your traps goodbye because NOT ONE OF THEM WILL ACTIVATE.
6. It doesn't seem like you can customize your court.
I don't know if this is in an updated tutorial, but despite there being objects SPECIFICALLY meant to be placed in the court, I can't seem to access the ability to customize it. I Tried every key and nothing seemed to work (I swear to god if it's another "F#" key).
7. NPCs' Relationships drain too quickly.
One of the great things this game had is the fact that it was akin to an idle game. You could sit back, relax and watch as your dungeon grows. You could do other things and RELAX. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case anymore with the NPCs now being WAY more needy if you want to maintain a good relationship with them. Sadly, this makes the game more tedious, with you almost constantly having to micromanage your people (and once you have a LOT of people, it gets out of hand FAST). I understand the LOGIC behind this change, but the NPCs aren't exactly interesting to talk to, with the only dialog option to boost their relationship being "How are you" where you just spam click it and be done with them.
Final Thoughts: At first I was REALLY excited for the new update, been waiting like 6 MONTHS for this, but after playing it for a good 3 hours, I'm sorry to say I DON'T like it. The fundamentals of character interaction have been altered too much, to the point where the system is just a clone of Dungeon RaidHer. The OLD system fit this game WAY better. The court is cool, but it should be an ADD ON to the existing system, and SHOULDN'T REPLACE IT. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I would actually prefer to go back to the PREVIOUS VERSION than play this one. The new models are well done and are certainly an improvement along with the new room types. But it's just not worth it if the core experience has been hindered THIS MUCH.
I'm terribly sorry for being so negative with this, but it's only because I LOVED this game and am passionate for it. I wish the Dev the absolute best with their endeavors and I REALLY hope these issues are addressed, because they are BIG.
I'd say the biggest takeaway here is "IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT".
