[Art] Looking for graphics artist to re-create Sampersons Desktop Meadow as an OpenSource project

Hey there :3

I really like this Desktop Meadow compagnion, but unfortunately missed it during the pandemic a few years ago. Sadly the messaging feature is not functional according to so many commentors complaining about that.

I'd like to re-create it as an opensource project. I'd preferably put it under the HortusFox umbrella, since it's related to plant parenting and gardening. That means development would work via GitHub and the project would be put under the MIT license.

Here are some ideas on the features:

  • Plants on taskbar and open windows
  • Instead of birds, bumble bees flying around (they are just soooo adorable)
  • A plant in the bottom right that functions as a mailbox to recieve messages from strangers
  • Sent messages could be handled via Discord, like, a sending channel on the HortusFox discord where each message of a member is both manually approved and auto-checked with bots if it's appropriate.

I personally would be the programmer and I'd be needing one or two artists that could create sprites of the flowers, plants and bumble bees. Pixel art would work as best I think, given the definite nostalgic flavor of this kind of game.

Your benefits?

  • Working on an open-sourced project under the umbrella of a well-established plant parenting management system
  • Get experience in collaborative software development, marketing and publishing
  • Put it on your portfolio (GitHub proven by commit history as well as being mentioned on a later website projectname.hortusfox.com)

Requirements:

  • Time and capacity to work on the project during spare time
  • Willing to contribute to an open-source project without financial compensation
  • At least junior level I guess, just show me some of your work
  • Having fun working on a wholesome desktop tool :3
