Intro

Greetings, we are Grand Scheme Games. We are a team of 9, composed of a Producer, Dev, 4 lovely artists, a writer (also lovely), a musician and a sound magician. At present we are looking for a new member to join our small, but tight-knit team.

More specifically, we're looking for a Lead Developer. Eh... don't let the name scare you though. Basically we're just looking for someone who is skilled in programming (more so than our current project manager and dev) to join us in the development of our game Immortal Doctrine.

General Needs

We are looking for someone with the following hard skills from most important to least important (or flexible):

  1. Experience with programming - Something that equates to 4+ years of experience or more would be preferred. This person would work closely with our producer/designer to identify design drivers for features, as well as feel comfortable working independently once plans have been defined.
    1. Knowledge of OOP is super important
    2. Able to discern the pros and cons of different programming approaches is very helpful as well
    3. We use Unity so if you have experience with C-based languages or Java, those work! But if you have another background that's cool too, as long as you're willing to learn.
  2. Experience with game development - Either through personal projects or projects from other teams, someone who knows or understands what it takes to make games and do the hardest part… FINISH.
    1. Unity, Gamemaker, Unreal, tbh any game engine would do.
    2. As long as one has experience working in them. We use Unity personally, so if you're familiar with it or Unreal, you'll feel right at home.

Other things we really look for

  1. A great team player - You do what you can for the team. We support each other and hold each other up, as well as hold each other accountable. Since this posting, we've been together for about half a year and though we've learned a lot working together, we hope to improve even more.
  2. A great communicator - Our team is completely remote, meaning communication can be tough. Though we don't expect people to be available all the time, or even everyday, we feel it is very important that we are able to get ahold of one another easily. Every couple of days at least (or just giving a heads up when you may be unavailable.)
  3. A nice person - Can't go wrong with being a nice person (it's okay if you're a jerk sometimes, but try not to be to us)

Technical Responsibilities and Duties

We'll be asking you to act as a "Lead Developer", more or less. Meaning you'd be taking on the bulk of our dev work.

There's been a decent amount completed or designed already, so technically you wouldn't need to start from scratch, but if you'd like to that would be okay as we could plan together.

Immortal Doctrine was designed to be built in a very modular way and we make a habit of cutting or simplifying features rather than adding them (unless they’re in scope).

Compensation (A.K.A. Capitalism Ho!)

Everyone on our team functions via a dynamic revshare system.

Our process is semi-democratic and relies on all members being honest about their work in respect to what's best for the team.

By this I mean that in order to judge fairness of compensation we use a combination of time tracking and voting as a team to provide an objective view over the contributions of others. This way we can build a system of trust and prevent bias or miseducation to cause us to not fairly provide someone with something they really should have.

Ultimately we want to be able to make this game and continue making game together.

We have a contract with more details on all the above and an NDA that we all sign out of respect, please feel free to ask us if you have questions and we can share.

Final Things

We’re a team of people of a range of ages and stages in life. What connects us is our pursuit to follow in the mission of GSG and put ourselves in a position where we can do this professionally.

Ideas come and go, but it’s the people who work on them together who make them happen. Ultimately, we just want to have a solid team that can work on this game and other games.

The link might have expired

Hey there. By expired link did you mean discord friend request? Or something else?

I'm interested, I would love to speak with you more about this, if you are still looking for one, I've sent you a discord request.

Hey there everyone, thank you very much for your interest. My apologies if I have not returned your messages yet, there were quite a few people who reached out than expected, especially under such short amount of time.

We are very deeply honored and humbled by your interests in our project. Though at this time, we have found someone whom we have decided to work with.

Despite this though, we'd love to keep in touch with you who have reached out and any other's who are interested in our team and game.

We'll be back in case new positions open up or we need extra assistance.

Thank you again.

Cheers,

GSG Team
