The Unsilent Night – A Blind Woman’s Fight for Survival in a Mansion of Horror
Introduction:
• You are Cayla, a blind woman who just inherited her estranged parents' mansion. On your first night, you wake up to the sound of a window breaking. What you assume is a burglar turns out to be something far worse—a sadistic killer who enjoys toying with his victims. You cannot see him, but you can hear him. And he can hear you.
Core Gameplay & Mechanics:
• A Text-Based, Sound-Driven Horror Game – The screen remains mostly black, with only text and audio guiding the player.
• Environmental Awareness – Players navigate using sound cues (footsteps on wood vs. tile, rain drowning out noise, distant creaks, breathing).
• Turn-Based Movement & Choices – The game provides text-based prompts such as:
"You feel a door to your left. Do you enter? (Yes/No)"
"You hear slow breathing behind you. Do you pretend not to notice? (Yes/No)"
• Hiding vs. Running – The killer reacts differently based on the player’s choices. In some cases, running means instant death. In others, hiding is a mistake.
• Emotional Depth – Cayla isn't just a horror protagonist; she's a person. At key moments, she reminisces about her past, adding emotional weight. Voice acting could enhance this immersion.
• Dynamic Rain System – Rain progresses from light drizzle to heavy downpour, making it harder to hear and increasing the risk of making noise.
• Psychological Horror – The killer does not speak, only chuckles or makes disturbing sounds, making him feel more like a monster than a man.
Atmosphere & Themes:
• No Music, Just Ambience – The only sounds are footsteps, creaking, Cayla’s breathing, and the ever-present rain.
• Menu Screen Easter Egg – An illustrated still image of Cayla in her nightgown, walking cautiously with her cane under moonlight. Occasionally, lightning flashes, revealing the killer standing behind her.
Endings & Deaths:
•Realistic & Brutal Deaths – If caught, the game ends with a text-based news article describing Cayla’s fate:
"A woman was found dismembered in the bathroom of her recently inherited mansion."
"A woman was found hanged in the master bedroom. Suicide? Or something more sinister?"
• Emotional Impact – Cayla is meant to be a character players grow attached to, making each death heavy and unsettling.
What I’m Looking For:
•I’m not a game developer or a full storyteller by any means, nor am I a huge horror fanatic—I just think this idea is too good to waste and not share. I’m sharing it freely with anyone who wants to develop it. You’re free to modify aspects of the game, but I’d love for the core concept to stay intact. If you do take inspiration from this, I’d appreciate a small credit mention somewhere in the game.
If this idea interests you, feel free to discuss it with me! I’d love to see it come to life. Thank you.
