Them’s the rules - either you pay in money, or (if you have no money and do not intend to sell your game until you have money) you can pay in time, by building it yourself according to a guide. I think there’s now roughly a hundred dollars worth of extensions that you can get for free* this way, so it’s a pretty good investment.
