Feedback for some ideas I had.

Well, where do I start? I first got into games when I was five years old and since then I have been completely in love with this fantastic world. Each game is an opportunity to enter a new world and now I have decided that I want to do something bigger for the world that I love so much. I want to create a startup focused on game development but I want to go down a different path. My desire is to create innovative and immersive games for players, to make each experience something different and interesting for the public. I am committed to innovation and creativity. I have noticed a great saturation in the market and I see this as an opportunity to enter a promising market. I intend to focus on niches that offer opportunities for innovation and I am looking for people who are willing to walk with me, especially programmers and designers who are interested in my proposals. Below are some interesting ideas that I have had:

Psychological Horror: I had a very interesting idea that, if done right, could be a huge success and catapult the company to the skies. I am Brazilian and I realized how little our culture is explored in current games, even though we are avid consumers of the gaming industry. The proposal I had was to create a psychological horror project based on creatures from our folklore, which is quite diverse and has great creative potential. We have legends such as the Curupira, Corpo Seco or the Bicho Papão (Bogeyman, as your eloquent Americans say). My focus is to create a different scenario for each of the creatures, implementing unique mechanics for them so that the player always does something different in each scenario. My goal is to make this experience truly scary and immersive, playing with the player's mind instead of resorting to jumpscares or excessive gore.

Simulation/Strategy: These two genres are quite comprehensive and have a high potential for innovation. They are not underdeveloped genres, but they are not as popular as current trends (RPGs and Shooters), but they have a loyal audience. My idea is to create a survival experience in a zombie apocalypse, but my focus is something completely different from Resident Evil. I want to make this game something focused on survival in fact and also include strategy elements such as food, water and other resource management. We could also introduce mechanics that allow a high level of freedom for the player, making moral choices. I believe this proposal is more viable than my first option. Simulation and strategy games are not known for surreal graphics, which allows for a saving in graphics that we can use in the game mechanics.

That's it folks, I would be very grateful if you could evaluate my ideas and especially if you are willing to help me on this difficult but rewarding path. Any feedback you can give me will be helpful. I plan to build a company in the future and I think it would be cool if you guys would evaluate my ideas.

I have read your post and my first impression is I'm not sure if you are going to make a game on your own or are going to start a game dev studio and recruit talents. I highly suggest that you make that clear first.

About your ideas, the horror concept sounds too broad. You can't just pick a monster (from anywhere) then insert it into a game then call it a horror game, no! you need to research on how the monster could deliver horror to players. Get that concept correct first before thinking about randomizing stuffs.

The simulation/strategy concept is weird cause you mention Resident Evil which doesn't belong in that genre. I had to reread your concept to get what you actually want to say. If I get it right, sounds like you want to create simulation/strategy game whose goal is to survive as long as possible instead of conquering the world. My mind goes straight to Rimworld but I'm not sure if that's what you had in mind.

These are just good insights! My goal is to actually have a talented team considering that I'm more of a "businessman" than a programmer.

About the psychological horror game, I have actually done some research and my culture has an interesting diversity of creatures and stories that could be very interesting in a horror game. I am not saying that I will add any creatures, but rather select those that best fit the theme. I will not include a pink dolphin that kidnaps women (yeah, we have something like that). Even from a more conservative point of view, Brazilians would certainly support the game. There are no games on the market that explore our culture and Brazilians tend to strongly support national projects.

Now regarding the zombie game... my goal is to create something more distant from the action or super humans who can kill zombies with their bare hands, no, I want to create a more immersive experience that provides freedom for the player to choose how they will obtain resources and food, like a choice system.

I grew up playing video games but to be honest I have a lot to learn, so it's interesting to receive constitutive feedback. If you have anything else in mind I would be grateful, I want to have a basis of what I'm doing.

Ps: (I know Resident Evil is a different niche than what I suggested, my English isn't the best ;))

Mmm... judging from your reply, I highly suggest that you update your game ideas cause right now both sound very broad. Also when I read simulation/strategy, I was imagining games like Civilization or Age of Empire but I am surprised that you actually meant survival games like Don't Starve in that reply.

I said very broad cause you only have something like "game which does this", "game which isn't that" or "game which feature this and that". You need something more specific, if you want a brazilian monster in a horror game, what does the monster do in the game? what can player do in the game? and so on.

If you want to make survival game, what is the main goal? what can or should player do to achieve that goal?

Yeah, now I get what you mean. It's true that up until now I haven't really gone into these ideas in depth. I was just thinking about doing something new or something that's not very well done in the industry. Lately, I've been doing a lot of research on the subject and I've found some less saturated niches. Looking a little more carefully, I can find some more specific things that could be interesting in a psychological horror game. Some legends from our folklore already have a very solid story and I could certainly make good use of some of them. I thought about creating different mechanics for some of them. I think an even number of creatures would be ideal. With a certain monster, the focus would be on survival, another could be on escape, etc. I already have some monsters in mind, but I need to do more in-depth research.

If you have any more tips or suggestions, I'm all ears. And sorry for the bad English.
