Will these games work on the mini? I'd like to play them but I have found that getting .lha files for new games to work on the mini is a bit tricky.

Developer

Hello, thanks for the post. Although I have not tested this on a A500mini, I have tested it on a Raspberry Pi and it loaded and played fine. I have conducted some research and discover that the A500 mini does play .lha games and that they must be left in the .lha format. This zip contains a GQ3.1 folder which contains the GQ3.lha file. So once you unzip the file remove the GQ3.lha file from the folder and copy that one to your mini USB stick. It should see it and load it.  Here are some links addressing playing WHDload games, which are in .lha format. https://amigang.com/amigamini-thea500/ ,     https://www.reddit.com/r/amiga/comments/tzyjk1/games_do_not_load_on_amiga_500_mini/?rdt=59423. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you had success. I think I'll purchase an A500mini to test further. :-)

Hi I will give it a go and will pop you a few GBP if it works. I think that the issue is with new games, which don't have an entry in the WHDbooter xml file. When the mini can't find the entry the game fails to load even if there is nothing wrong with it. Some recent games like Maria Renards Revenge and the Turrican 2 AGA remake had the extra bits to add to the xml file on the itch.io page.  ADF files don't have this issue, they usually just work.
