Hi there, I am the director of Second Star, a sci-fi first person adventure with role playing elements. Our team, Dyscordion Entertainment, is looking for a Unity programmer and a 3D artist to join our team of 12 people. We are deep in development and currently have a released demo on Steam for people to try out. The game is about a science officer and their crew searching for a missing ship, set 200 years in the future where deep space travel is still new for humanity. It's a very narrative driven game, with fun exploration and gameplay systems. There are NPCs to converse with--fully voiced--and you can befriend or romance them if you wish. We are inspired by games like Mass Effect, as well as first person experiences like Firewatch and puzzle games like Riven and Myst.
We operate on a rev share arrangement but this is indeed a passion project. The team is women-led and very fun and relaxed to work with, but we have a good rhythm down in getting things done, which has led to our great rate of progress. We plan to release on PC first but also have partnerships with some console vendors.

We currently have a lead programmer and lead 3D artist, but we find ourselves in need of one of each to better distribute our workload. I have listed what we'd love to see below. You don't have to necessarily fit all of the requirements but this is what we do in our day to day work so I've listed that!
Unity Programmer
What You Will Do
- Implement game functionality. We use Unity 2021 and Adventure Creator as our main framework.
- Implement a UI from a set of designs from our artists
- Work 2 days or night per week on game assets
- Participate in bi-weekly team meetings
Who You Are
- Previous experience on a Unity game
- Comfortable working with both internal and 3rd party assets
- Unity UI building skills a must! We have a very pretty but rather complex UI that needs to be built to integrate with our gameplay systems.
- Excellent communication skills - we are a chatty but focused bunch and have a lot of passion for this game.
- Comfortable working collaboratively, receiving and implementing feedback
- Communicative, able to ask questions and seek help as needed
Nice to Have
- Experience shipping a game (any platform)
- A portfolio or website with previous work is a big plus

3D Artist
What You Will Do
- Create custom 3D assets from start to finish
- Implement assets into Unity engine
- Work 2 days or night per week on game assets
- Participate in bi-weekly team meetings
Who You Are
- Skilled in one or more 3D packages (we use Blender)
- Knowledgeable about the full 3D asset creation pipeline:
- Modeling, game topology and high-poly sculpts
- Unwrapping
- Texturing
- Rigging and Skinning
- Comfortable working collaboratively, receiving and implementing feedback
- Adept at working to match provided concept art
- Creative and resourceful in problem-solving
- Able to keep files highly organized
- Communicative, able to ask questions and seek help as needed
Portfolio
- 3D work showing experience with both hard surface and organic models (especially plants and sci-fi themed objects)
- Focused on realistic environments and props
- Available online or attached to email.
Nice to Have
- Experienced with Unity and Blender
- Strong specialized knowledge of texturing, high-poly sculpting, and baking
- Experienced with optimization and creating LOD states
