Keyboard not working...

Hello,

I wanted to try your game, but I don't actually own a VR headset. However I do own a cardboard-like VR player, which I used in pair with a program called Vridge (which emulates a VR headset), and successfully managed to get SteamVR to work (completed the room setup and stuff).

The game launches and displays just fine, which means the emulator works correctly. However, when I get to the point where the game asks me to press E on my keyboard, the button does nothing.

I've done some googling and I found out that mouse and keyboard are not supported by SteamVR...which I found strange since the game is telling me to use my keyboard.

Any solutions or workarounds?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. If the issue can't be resolved, could I use the "scene" command from the console to bypass the starting point and go directly to a scene? If so, what are the scene names I can use?

Developer

Wow, those are some amazing technical hurdles you vaulted over to get the game to run in VR! Unfortunately the VR mode requires tracked controllers, so pretty much an Oculus, Vive, or WindowsMR rig. To use the keyboard, you'll want to actually disconnect the VR stuff. When the game can't find a VR headset, it will fall back to traditional monitor mode with mouse/keyboard.

Definitely not ideal, but maybe better than nothing? Let us know what you think!

Thank you for your help!

That is sad to hear...I really wanted to try how this game feels in VR...

What about the "scene" command in the developer console window...could I use that to skip to a scene where it doesn't require a keyboard?

Hmm... interesting idea, but those scene commands are run by the game's script based on the choices you make though taking actions or selections in the journal.

I'll look into adding keyboard support while in VR mode for future versions of the game, though.

Actually, there is a command for opening the journal itself. I'm not sure if you'll be able to select anything it it, but the command is:

/action open_journal
