How do i recognize the 'End is Near' signal, and how do i protect myself?

Hi! I'm fairly new to the game, and i heard that it's a game-ending signal that you can just randomly get while playing.

For some reason i can't seem to find much useful information about this signal elsewhere, other than that it's world ending and should be avoided.

Could somebody please tell me more about this signal? I want to know how i can recognize it before i download it (if it's possible), and what i should do if i suddenly see that red skull on my screen to prevent the world from ending.

Please, I've put a lot of hours into this save, and i really don't want to start from scratch because of it.

it is very easy to recognize and you simply delete all evidence of the signal, the only way to softlock yourself is to send the signal in for points and save (but in that case, resetting objects and events can still salvage the save, though you'll lose all your actual items and stuff...)

i see. does the red skull show up on screen even if the signal is on level 0, or do you need to presess it a couple of times to identify it?

can't remember the specifics but you get a warning email when the timer starts

that's very good to know! but do you know if there is a way to recognize the signal before downloading it? (similarly to how you can recognize the 'virus' signal, the one that looks like a floating PC by looking at it before downloading it)

if you don't want to even risk it it's a very unique looking "red asteroid"

got it! thank you for the help man, you're a real life saver!

fun fact: said "red asteroid" is actually a line image of the underside of a skull!

Sending the signal off actually counts as getting rid of it now. I sent it in intentionally trying to see what happens and I still got the "GOOD" email.

Here just to confirm what ArsonistHotdog said. I too was trying to trigger the ending to see what it did, but after shipping it I got the "GOOD" email (0.7.0 Super experimental).

Edit: actually I receive the email even if I keep the disk after playing it. I think I cannot trigger the ending at all.
