Trying this game out and while I like the idea, I'm flummoxed by a couple of decisions:
- No backtracking if you move to the next room. Not the worst thing but made the pricey coffee/water system seem even less useful since it's before you deal with any monsters
- My deck resets between days and I'm not warned about this? Was a heck of a shock, especially when day 2 rolls around and I can't deal with the Tower card by trashing it because I've suddenly only got 1 mana card in my deck
- Probabilities feel floaty. Was getting lots of bad reads like when I had a +7 on one type and a 0 in another, I'm not sure what's up there.
- Removing a card type or two does nothing to help guarantee a result. Granted, this would utterly break game balance, but it left me feeling like my choices didn't matter.
- The money system is unforgivingly tight-fisted unless you're purposefully tanking for Karma.
- Conditions for things change almost on a whim. Got tired of dealing with the Tower card so tried Production, went up to face the summoned monster on the second room there and found out, unlike the Security floor where a resurrection is free, resurrection costs $100 and the snowman is nigh-unbeatable with the puny stats you're likely to have, and there's no run away option. Nope, just return to game start screen if you don't have(or can't spare) $100.
I'm not a big game player, but I feel like I'm not getting some of the underlying rules here and it's taken me out of the experience the couple of times I've tried. I love the style of it, but feels like I have to lose to learn rather than weight an opponent's choices. I'm gonna try to keep tackling this game, but if anyone's got tips, I'm all ears.
