Welcome to the first Crush Landed Devlog!

Crush Landed is a visual novel dating sim with fun point-and-click elements where you play as either a man or a woman who has recently been dumped and Aliens crash land into your backyard. You get to choose your name, and there are (for now) 4 possible love interests!  The demo is already available but does not include any endings yet. I am currently solo-developing Crush Landed for free and plan to keep the game Name Your Own Price until it is fully completed.

What I need right now is an audience to support me and spread the word!   I am new and not a professional, so my success lies in the hands of my audience. I will be updating you guys often on progress either here or on the Crush Landed Development Blog (tumblr.com) (currently empty but will be updated soon!)

I hope to have the next update for Crush landed out soon and thank you to everyone so far who has played the game!

UPDATE:  Crush Landed Devlog #2

Hello again everyone, it's me Cici, I just wanted to do a quick update to let you all know what I've been working on right now!

Features I've implemented already include:

  • Earning in-game money by working
  • A Gift shop and Gift Giving mechanic
  • A "poke" mechanic that allows you to annoy your crush for fun. (Doesn't do anything beyond trigger random dialogue... for now ;) )
  • A date menu that currently crashes the game because I still have to implement the actual dates/date minigames. lol

Some features that I haven't included yet are:

  • Actual minigames, I need suggestions for what types of minigames you guys would want to see (keeping in mind the game is meant to be a casual, point-and-click dating sim)
  • Customizable wardrobe for Catty/Carter (The player character).
  •  More sprites, characters, and storyline (especially the endings)

So, when is the next update coming Cici?

I always set longer deadlines than I actually need to make sure in case of emergencies I still finish the game update in time. So while I'm going to say for NOW the first update is set for some time in early February (Before Valentine's Day), but depending on my schedule and motivation, it could be as early as late January (around the 31st).

Just felt like updating you guys, hope everyone is having an exciting and happy new year so far. Thank you again to every player of Crush Landed. So far, we've reached 17 downloads as of Friday and I hope we'll have many more to come.

Hello everyone, Cici here with another Crush Landed Devlog!

The update is coming along fairly quickly. Here's some important things to know about this first update:

The dates in Crush Landed aren't very engaging at the moment because they're text placeholders, they're going to be updated with minigames as development continues. I still really need suggestions for good, point-and-click minigames I could add to Crush Landed. My friend says point-and-click games are too old hat, but I want to keep Crush Landed as casual a game as possible.

The aliens now have Human disguises they will wear when out and about with you around town (Because it just made sense story-wise) These haven't been fully implemented yet.

I'm hoping after an update or two I'll be ready to start a Kickstarter or IndieGoGo campaign with some rewards to help me earn enough money to hire voice actors for the game as well as be able to put the demo up on Steam.  For now, I would love to hear from some fans about things I could improve upon in the game. Whether it's character-related, story-related, or just a simple GUI suggestion, feel free to leave any comments here or on the Crush Landed Itch.io page and I'll do my best to reply to them all.

Thank you again to everyone who has given Crush Landed a try so far, I appreciate every single one of you. That's all for now, Cici

Crush Landed Devlog #4

Well, it's that time again, time for another devlog. Here are some things that have changed since the last devlog:

The date mechanic is now being modeled after Love Hina Sim Date RPG's date system. What exactly does that mean? Well, it means there will be multiple mechanics that make a date successful, including gift-giving, talking, and kissing your crush.  For now, there are 4 different date locations. Originally each date location was going to have a separate minigame, but for now, it's looking like that will be more difficult to implement than I thought. A lot of the Lemma soft forums' renpy cookbook code is out of date, making it harder for a noob programmer like me to figure things out without breaking stuff.  Because of this, dates may seem a tad bit repetitive until further updates are implemented to balance out gameplay.

I've implemented Vincent's endings but haven't finished drawing the art for them. The update will be released once I have at least 2 endings for all four love interests. (a good ending and a bad ending)

Another small victory is I have implemented the love stats screen, allowing the player to check how well they're doing with their crush by clicking the small, two hearts button on the upper right-hand corner of the main in-game menu.

Here are some screenshots of things I have done so far:The main in-game menu

LOVE STATS, BABY LOVE STATS

Date menu example (GUI will be updated for it later)

What else is there? I know there's something I'm forgetting...

Oh yeah! Customizable sprites. If Crush Landed gets popular enough, I'd like to make a character customizer for the player. This will take quite a lot of work and likely won't be in the next update, but it is something I definitely would like to have in the final game.
Thank you to everyone who has played so far and I hope to update the game soon!

Lots of love, Cici
