OpenTimaeus, an Open Source Gameboy Style Visual Novel Offers New Way of Reading Plato's TIMAEUS

November 19th, 2018 -- New York, NY

An entry in GitHub's 2018 "GAME-OFF" Game-Jam, Modern Aeon's OpenTimaeus is an open source, visual novel that has the look and feel of either an old gameboy game or a piece of heady edutainment playable on the Mac Classic circa somewhere between 1985 and 1989.

The entire Archer-Hind Translation from 1888 has been ported to appear on screen with monochromatic cartoon thinkers from Ancient Greece.  The text can be experienced from start to finish in any modern browser and uses the RenJS visual novel framework, built on top of Phaser, a javascript library built for online game deployment.
