Dropping down a game prompt (will tweak it)

If anyone who makes rpg maker games want it, it's yours. This is a *prompt* I thought of while thinking of stories to write, I rlly liked this idea but didn't know how to write it out, so I felt like making this into a game would be cool. Idrk if anyone's actually made a game about this lol.

Prompt:

(childhood bestfriends) You've known them ever since you were practically fetuses, as your moms were also childhood bestfriends since birth, and their moms, and their grandmas, and their ancestors... You get it, your family and theirs have a good relationship with each other. Now back to the story. One day, they invited you over to play a supposedly haunted VR game they found in a box they found on the street. It's said that the game would replace a video game character that had died with a person who played the game. As you both played, and played for hours and hours, you've almost reached the end of the game. Just before you managed to beat the final boss, your best friend suddenly drops dead. Now whoops, a timeskip occurred. It's been 10 years ever since your best friend's death. You've completely forgotten about the 'curse' of the game that most probably killed your friend. You decided to play the game for old time's sake. But what happens when you meet a video game character that looks, talks and ACTS LIKE YOUR DEAD FRIEND?

Edit: actually anyone who makes games other than rpg is fine, i just wanna see how it'd be like if this became a game lmao

So wait, is the point of the game that the character IS your dead friend (or the ghost of them)? And if not, then who/what is that character? Then is the game about figuring out the mystery of what it REALLY is?

 And if they are just, boringly, the ghost of your dead friend, do they remember how they died? Is the game about them figuring that out? And what happens after they remember? Does the protagonist just stop playing the game, or do they continue playing the game and then the PROTAGONIST dies and becomes a game character too?

Does the best friend try to keep the protagonist in the game world with them forever like some kind of evil spirit? Or does the protagonist try to revive their best friend.

I am getting all kinds of ideas of what the plot COULD be from this prompt, but I wish you would give more of an idea of the plot yourself, be more specific, if that makes sense. Cause otherwise this is just a prompt that could go anywhere. What do you think the point of this story would be, is it supposed to be scary, or sad, or happy? Maybe even a comedy or romantic? I guess that's why you said you "don't know how to write it out".

"It's said that the game would replace a video game character that had died with a person who played the game." So when you first booted up the game, your friend replaced the "video game character that had died"? But if it's a VR game, then the players are not characters, they're themselves.

Then "But what happens when you meet a video game character that looks, talks and ACTS LIKE YOUR DEAD FRIEND?" But when your friend died,  they were playing a game as a "player". If they're a "character", then does that mean the game now has a new character that wasn't there before? Or did they replace some other NPC? Kind of confusing.

hey sorry late reply but thanks for the critism! At the time I was posting this thread I was basically just writing down whatever came to mind without thinking much of it. But reading your reply actually made it clear to me that I was basically dropping a game prompt rather than an actual plot --;

It's been awhile since I posted it and my motivation to write has been pretty down, but I hope if I manage to write it out properly you can give some feedback to it.

Thanks again :)

Oh hey, I didn't mean my post as a criticism exactly, but I just meant that I felt like you only told the beginning of the story, and with my post I was just trying to inspire you to extend the idea, if you wanted to, or if you had more details in mind that you didn't say in the OP.
