Is the game abandoned?

I wondered, as the game hasn't had any news for a couple years now and still listed in early alpha.

Hi Benji, thanks for writing.

I don't think I'll ever abandon it, as I've been wanting to make a CRPG since I was a kid, and I feel like The Chronicler can become a very special personal take on the genre. Unfortunately, life always finds a way to ruin our plans, and for the last couple of years, Susanna and I have been forced to focus on our "financially viable" projects.

I hope no one hates us for being so silent, as we're not ready to talk about what's happening behind the scenes yet. When we do, we'll write about this and our future plans in more detail.

Thank you, and the rest of our supporters, for your patience.

Hi, I've just finished playing your entire ludography (the Midnight Scenes series, the Supper, The Librarian and Unwelcome). I enjoyed them a lot and plan on writing an article about your work on my website (https://www.desclicsetdeslettres.fr/). I may even ask you if you'd be willing to answer a few questions so that I might be able to add the interview to the article. I also started playing The Chronicler. It looks fantastic and really promising. Do you know when you'll be ready to release new content? You said that it might not be a viable project, but your reputation being what it is, I'm pretty sure it would be just as successful as your Midnight Scenes games.

Hi Evolucio, thanks for writing! I'm glad you enjoyed our games! :)

The Chronicler is not abandoned at all, but I want to stress that it's a personal project that I work on in my free time and when my mental health allows it.

A few months ago I started from scratch because I felt the basic design was flawed and not fun, so I stopped uploading new versions —also, the rough reality of indie development forces Susanna and me to focus on economically viable projects.

For all these reasons we advise on our page to buy it only if you want to support us as an indie studio. For those interested exclusively in this game, I'd say it's better to wait.
