It crashes on startup/loading screen. I use windows 10, tried opening in 7z, restarting, redownloading, etc. Won't work, might be software issue. Please fix.
So, I just downloaded today and had no issues (so far)! I'm also running Win 10.
The steps I took were: Download the Zip > Make a designated folder for it > Drag the zipped file from Downloads folder to the designated folder I just created > Right click the zipped file and select "Extract Here" > Wait for that to finish > Delete the original zipped file and open the program.
WDYM you tried opening in 7z? All you should need to do is right click & extract the files. I recommend uninstalling/deleting all files associated with the program (including in your AppData folder in the Godot Folder) and redownloading the Zipped folder one more time to give it another whirl? Do you have enough space on your PC's main drive for the contents of the folder that shows up in AppData?
i tried to open it in windows file explorer at first and tried a lot of different methods but none worked. 7z, i just tried opening the exe file in 7z because its the closest thing i have to winrar (sometimes exe files dont open in windows file explorer for some reason). but thanks for the other advice
I'm having the same issue, same context as described above. Have redownloaded, run as admin, etc - Nothing happens. I start the program, it opens on a loadingscreen (black), then crashes.. In the install-instructions, it mentions that we should make sure the PCK-file is in the same as the EXE, but there's only one file present when I open WinRAR and unzip.. maybe there's a problem there? idk, would love to figure out what's happening, the program looks amazing :-D
So I took a look inside the exe again in 7z and all the other data files have ".edata" or ".reloc", just the file extensions, but the only one that didn't have a file extension was the PCK file. If I recall correctly, the PCK file holds the important data for Godot games. Without the extension, the executable file won't be able to find it in some systems for some reason. I tried to rename it to add the . extension but I couldn't do it without making the program unable to be opened at all. This is all speculation but may be a reason as to why.
