Mimic chest looks like a chest with an artefact, and if you have 4 scouting points Hiro will feel that something is wrong. Mermaid island could be avoided, but if you still want to interact with her she will let you go if you have high charisma, or you will defeat her in a battle.
I think virgin run is mainly warrior class thing. So you should be strong, agile and perceptiive. This is how you kill all the enemies, and avoid most of the traps. Of course you need Surveyor and Stealthy perks so you don't have to spend days and nights on scouting and stealthing.
Orkblood race is also very helpful, but you should be cautious about amount of food you have.
Race Choice Matters? oh ffs. Yeah also want to know if you can avoid Mimic, only way I can think of is just wait it out, maybe. Golden rule is you want to cross the river... Mimic or Mermaid, choose. I don't like either of those cause Mermaid 1st passthrough will drain your health. Also sometimes there's only one way through and chest with a mimic is in the way -.-'
