Technical Issue Starting Up Tailor Tales

I just supported on Patreon and downloaded 1.5.4 (this happens for me on both standard and plus), but I'm unable to run the game. I can see the Celianna logo when it starts up, then it fades to black. I can hear the music and voice sfx (I'm assuming it's supposed to be an opening trailer?) but the screen stays black and clicking or pressing keys doesn't do anything. The music plays smoothly and loops at the end of the track. When I tried to maximize the window, the game rebooted itself but it just repeats the same black screen problem. I also tried closing all other running programs, but neither CPU, memory, nor disk usage is maxed out so I don't think that's the issue.

My computer is admittedly on the old and slow side, but I have no issues running the public beta so I'm not sure why the patreon version is not working. Any help would be very appreciated, thanks!

Edit: I resolved this by going to the game.exe file and running it in compatibility mode, specifically for Windows Vista (Service Pack 2). Hope this helps anyone else who may experience the same problem!

Sorry to hear you ran into issues! Any problems regarding the Patreon version can be brought to me directly (Discord is the best place to contact me, you did get an invite to join the Discord's private channel). If you haven't joined yet, here's the link.

A lot of things have changed since the public release, though I'd like to know more about getting stuck at the intro. Now that you've managed to get past it, do you still run into a black screen if you turn off compatibility mode and load up the game?

I am currently working on optimizing the game upon start-up, so hopefully that will fix things for you. But please, join the Discord so we can get to the bottom of it! :)
