I’m Travis, professional game designer and QA tester, at your service! I graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s in Game Design in 2016. Video games live in my earliest memories as I’ve had an obsession with gaming since I could pick up a controller. I’ve been freelancing for the last year, where I’ve:

  • Designed the entire Roblox experience for a high-profile client in a month
  • Crafted aesthetic descriptions for tarot cards
  • Created a slot machine in Google Sheets
  •  Produced a payout formula for a non-traditionally formatted tournament of 1000 players
  • Provided consultation for a financial simulation game
  • Researched and implemented popular phrases for a party card game
  • Performed QA testing
Metaplanets is the only one on my portfolio from the last year, but I can discuss the above projects that aren’t under NDA.

I’ve been on and off learning Unity, Blender, and C# through the years, so while I can look at and understand what’s happening, I’m no programmer or modeler. Recently, I’m interested in learning GPT and Web3 to further add value to my skillset.

My current skills lie in the MDA framework, game theory, user experience, research, mechanics/systems/economic design and balancing, design documentation, and spreadsheet wizardry. I have a passion for unlocking the potential each experience brings.

My life goals include:

  • Redesigning the US education system
    • Children are tested and tested into the ground until they’re ready to quit. My mission is to grant each child a fair chance by making curriculum malleable to each student’s individual skills and talents. Quest to Learn is my role model is this capacity.
  • Creating a brand new transportation system
    • Traffic is awful. Death rates are high. Asphalt wastes too much taxpayer money. Paving and driving are disruptful to the environment. These are but a few of the multitude of reasons for the vehicular transportation system to be overhauled; electric cars are a step in the right direction, but it’s not enough. We need something more convenient that relies on people’s attention spans less, and something that will stand as the innovation of the century.

I have a family to support and my partner lost her job. I need $60k/yr to make it, and $85k/yr to thrive. I’m open to freelance, part, or full-time work. I want to be clear that I can’t take on any unpaid projects because I have a family to feed first, though I’d be open to the prospect once I’m in a good spot financially.
