Possible Bug with the corrupted body skill?

So I put gamblers ring on Ryen cause why not I guess putting him down to a little over 1700 hp and tried using corrupted body with it doing more than what his "max hp "was (it was around like 2000 damage) which was really weird but he went down and immediately went back up to 1 but still lost the buff because he technically went down, I tested it some more and while it usually does a little more than half of his hp with the ring on cause he usually takes 1k damage which is about how much corrupted body does without the ring anyways so I assume it goes off of his normal max hp not taking gear into consideration with the first instance being a weird fluke but he'll still go down if his hp is bellow what he takes from it, so my main question is if the dropping to 0 and back up to 1 is intentional as a way of saying don't use a skill that hp when your low on it or is it a bug  and has anyone else encountered this.?  I know it is not that big of one if it is I'm mostly just curious.

(Also I know this wasn't originally part of the topic and I'm sorry but I think trying to make Excalibro is broken because I have both parts the blade and grip but can't combine them at the anvil in the fire raid unless I am just really dumb and missing something).

Corrupted Body does 2x Ryen's ATK as damage to himself (+/- 20% variance, and ignoring any armor). It's not based on M.HP and therefore not changed by reducing your M.HP, but increases when your ATK goes up.
That your HP goes back to 1 is news to me. Might be a "feature" of the RPG Maker engine, that you can't kill yourself with your own skills, or that the buff is applied after the damage and somehow causes the char to be alive again. But there is no revive or healing effect added to that skill to intentionally keep him alive.

When you finish the fire raid often enough, you can do it solo. After winning a solo fire raid, you can find a chest in the area with the dusty crafting book. This book will allow you to use the raid anvils for combining, upgrading and disassembling equipment.

Ah got it that makes sense, thanks for the info and clarification!
