Hi, I didn't think you would do an update, that's great! If you ever need to do any more, I'd like to suggest some improvements in all humility.

  •  Add the mainmast stay sail
  • Be able to remove the top-gallant mast in bad weather.
  • To be able to lower the yards without reducing the sail. To reduce the power in the sails but without taking a reef.
  • To be able to anchor the boat.
  • o develop a schooner!

I'll stop here, but I could say a lot more! But I think it's already a lot of work if you have to do what I say...

Thank you for your great simulation! It's very good and in fact there is no better one for the moment !

Developer

Thanks very much for the suggestions.

About the mainmast stay sail, I got it into my head, I'm not sure from where, that it was not usually used. Do you know when it would be used?

Removing topgallant masts is something I would like to add to the game, along with studdingsails. The problem with both of them is that there is code at the moment for breaking things off the ship, but not really for sticking things on. Hopefully I will get to it someday.

Where can I read about lowering the yards? Was it something that was done to reduce sail quickly, say if there is a sudden change in the wind?

I thought a lot about how to handle anchoring, and was at one point planning to put it in the last build. Maybe next time.

Sadly too much stuff is hard-coded now to want to mess with different rigs.

Great, thanks for the feedback!

I understand very well that it's not easy that many things are already well fixed.

For the masts that move it could be the same mechanics as the sails no?

In Ahoy's discord in the "other-games" section I posted pictures of the frigate l'Hermione using the staysail.

It is not always used but it is still useful, it is a powerful sail.

Lowering the yards reduces the power of the wind in the sails. When you arrive at an anchorage, you can do this to slow the ship down. When you want to be overtaken by a slower moving ship. When you have to bringing.

Very good for the anchorage! I hope you can put it on.
