Scribe is a Wretched and Alone journaling game set during the Late Bronze Age Collapse. As the player, you will write letters to the other kingdoms of the Late Bronze Age World, beseeching them for help as, through natural disasters, climate pressures, economic collapse, and violence on the horizon, the interconnected world of the Late Bronze Age comes to a sudden end.

A page of Scribe, which reads: You are a scribe, in a small city state on the coast of the Levant. You are one of a privileged few, raised to learn the gift of reading and writing. You know well the wedge-shaped letters of Akkadian, the diplomatic language shared by every nation that you can name. Are you the scion of a long line of scribes, or the first of your family to learn to write? You will be the last. To the north of your homeland, mighty Hattusa is ruled by the line of Suppiluliuma. To the south, the Pharaohs of Kemet rule a centuries-old empire that stretches from the great river Aur at its heart into the Levant. Across the Mediterranean, an immense trading network spans between Bronze Age kingdoms, with goods travelling from places so far away that you will never know them. It is circa 1200 BCE, and this world is about to end. First came an earthquake, bringing ruin, fear, and confusion. Your home has survived, but the worst is yet to come.
