Somehow the least optimized thing ever

Ok, I'll be the first to admit my computer isn't exactly beefy, but this is ridiculous. I meet all the requirements for the game and yet, somehow, some way, my game manages to freeze on the main menu, which is literally just a black screen with some buttons. I'd advise the devs to maybe focus less on adding new content, and more towards making the game more usable, especially because smth like this is really, really up my alley.

Its not jus  you . Jus tried this version n  got a brand new beefy comp made for deving n  making things n I cant get it to run right. eats up so much more resourcess now. black screens. blues screens. BAD lag. gui bugs. graphics pixel bugs. physics bugs. so much stuff that worked fine dont no more.

There is  no reason a platformer should be dragging my comp  down or cause my gpu fan to go craz but it is. older  versions work better but its only worth like 1 or 2 play seshs tho. The specs on the itch page are not   right anymore at all and need to be updated------

its been like this for years

Apologizes for this. Each month I try my best to include a culling of outdated and broken stuff from the project in addition to new features. There's about 40,000 files in total that comprise the entire thing. I can spend an entire 8 hour day removing outdated files after verifying they are no longer being used and only reduce the number of files in the project by 200 or so at a time.
Its certainly a systemic issue that has persisted as a result of things not being done correctly for years. I'm committed though to seeing the completion of the project through

Makes no sense. earlier versions was playable and matched the specs on the page. not the case no more

well the previous dev left and didn't leave any notes on what it is he had done. So we are trying our best with what we have

None this dont add up.. Say fixed and optimized but then it aint. Say rebuilt engine and ai from scratch with but then blame some one else and say youre still culling stuff. Say this is systemic for yrs but older versions worked better. new lags causes my comp to over heat and bluesccreen when hd vr games are no prob but that a coders fault who aint there no more?. you have more coders now but versions come slower and are more bugy and use more ress.. Lots not manking no sense and lots not true. if no notes is even true thats a excuse for 3 months TOPS IF ya a alone coder and aint used to it. NOT a yr. def NOT for a team.more peps. more time. the game should be better not worse.. if the game was optimized and worked and no lag and matched specs before AND NOW rebuilt and none true no more thats not any old coders fault. mac versions dont even turn on. quit sharing broken things. quit saying things are fixed and optimized when they aint and then turn around and blame other peps

In that case, I would recommend putting a temporary hold on adding any new content and have the dev team focus primarily on optimization. No point in adding new content if nobody can play or enjoy the old content after all. I get you and the rest of the team want to add new content with each new update, but in the games current state, that's honestly the worst course of action you could take right now.  Pretty much anyone aware of the game agrees that it's honestly a mess. To fix a mess, you clean it up instead of adding new stuff, but right now you're trying to do both, which doesn't do a lot to help get the game fixed, at least in a timely manner.
