What's up!? I'm back and this time we're drawing some Halloween themed pumpkins, or "Jack O' Lanterns". So, 32px probably will do per pumpkin but use whatever dimensions you want. You can use a big canvas, I'm just going to use a 32px grid to gauge the size of my pumpkins. I'm not sure how big I want to draw them yet.

So those are my pumpkin sketches, next we'll want to go online to see what kind of faces people come up with it and STEAL em'! 😈 It's ok, I don't think it would be such a big deal for Jack O' Lantens. So search up "Jack O' Lanterns" on Google and pay attention to the eyes, noses, and mouths individually and notice how many variations there between each of them. This is pixel art so there's only so much we can do but I think we can still make some great designs. Ask yourself, what kind of eyes do they have? Are they triangular, round, square, angry, happy? Do the eyes have pupils?  What are the nose shapes? Do they even have a nose? Mouths? Is it a smile? Is it a frown? Does the pumpkin have a stitched mouth? Dimples? etc. There's so many questions to ask and it's good to think about these things but if you're starting out, it's good to go with the simple design first. First we'll do a simple one. Blob the orange with a yellow face, define where the light will hit and the following shadows, add the bumpy pumpkin texture and some depth to the carvings, then polish.

Once you have a decent pumpkin, you can duplicate it around and experiment with different shapes for the facial expressions.

If you've made it this far, that's great! Then from here, we can try to free draw some piles of pumpkins.

So those are my Jack O' Lanterns! Thanks for reading and see you next time. Happy Halloween! 🎃
