Hello everyone!

I’m currently completing my Masters of Information Science degree with a concentration in User Experience. I’m aspiring to be a Games User Researcher looking for experience to build a research portfolio. I’m a member of the Games User Research SIG on Discord and am excited to grow and hone my research skills.

What I offer:

  • Objective evaluation of your game while remaining empathetic toward play-testers and tactful of your design decisions.
  • Coordinate play-testing and recruit players with diverse or vetted levels of experience.
  • Serve as moderator and observer for sessions.
  • Record sessions with player consent for team review.
  • Proctor surveys and feedback forms.
  • Analyze data collected using usability principles:
    • Learnability
    • Memorability
    • Efficiency
    • Accuracy
    • Satisfaction
  • Deliver reports with concise explanations and actionable next steps for the design team.
    • Prioritize issues by severity
    • Provide player quotes and holistic impressions

What I want:

Permission to tailor your game’s research into a case study for my portfolio. I will follow your requests for nondisclosure of game development and business strategy, I am only looking to describe my research process and summarize findings.

Contacting me:

My Discord username is hidalgogos#4562, please provide me with some details about your game; general mechanics, its platform, testing goals, timeline, and deadlines. If our schedules align, we can exchange information and move our discussion to a more collaborative environment (Google Drive, Dropbox).

Disclaimer: I work full-time and am in graduate school. I will strive to be as responsive to communication as possible given this is a professional development opportunity for me. Please understand that my availability during the day can vary.
