Heeeyyyy 2D in Unreal :D
The game was fun, I played a couple games, made we want to start again. If I can suggest a couple of things:
- Would be nice to have an exp bar, it's hard to tell if I'm about to level up or not and how much progress the collectibles give me.
- At some point there's just too many enemies and it becomes very hard to collect the Exp, feeling like you don't progress. I guess the exp collect range upgrade would help, but it feels like wasting a level.
- I could not find any way of healing, rendering the "Max HP" upgrade more of a "heal 1 hp" upgrade which is not great.
- The "Upgrades" at the beginning, I'm guessing they are permanent upgrades ? I feel they are way too expensive, I played multiple rounds and never reached the 5000 required for the first upgrade. I'd suggest making them increasingly more expensive, but the first one relatively low, reachable in 1 or 2 games for a new player.
- Sound effects could add to the experience.
- The game seems quite large, it's specially weird that there is a 200mb exe of Unreal, even tho it's not the one we use. Is it a "shipping" windows package ? Was the starter content removed from the packaging ? I do small pixelart games in Unreal and my latest game, unzipped, was 148mb total, yours is 718mb, something's fishy, I'd suggest taking a look at this:
https://docs.unrealengine.com/4.26/en-US/TestingAndOptimization/PerformanceAndPr...
and remove all starter content and content you dont actually use in the game, also be sure to set your build configuration to "Shipping".
That being said the game was fun. The slimes are a cool idea, kind of allow to a more "close combat" strategy. The upgrades were engaging and I had fun ! :D
