Undertook to make a game on the theme of the gladiators of Ancient Rome in the style of Prison Architect and Domina based on the TV series Spartacus for PC.
Game engine: the easiest - Construct 2
Features: I would like 50 types of gladiators, 20+ skills for each.
General concept: The development of Ludus - the school of gladiators - including the purchase and training of gladiators. The life of gladiators in the ludus - everyday features.
The arena is a place of fighting, betting, fame and influence.
I would like to add a block - intrigues and politics - espionage, sabotage, bribery, etc.
Despite the meager possibilities of graphic execution, I try, as far as possible, to pay maximum attention to details and historical correspondences, in terms of names, appearance of equipment, peculiarities of gladiator training based on the research of historians and archaeologists. .
I'm bad at programming and don't even communicate :) However, thanks to Construct 2 and poke methods, as well as trial and error, I can realize some of my ambitious ideas. The first game was a game about ants. I did, did and did not finish it, and now I can quite shovel it again. The second game was a game about a kid who litters in the apartment - he littered, littered and, oddly enough, finished. But the game needs improvement. The third game - My self-confidence grew by leaps and bounds - was a grandiose project in execution and idea about Roman gladiators.
There are many games about gladiators. Much less about the gladiators of ancient Rome. However, they don't have everything I need. My desires know no bounds. So I decided to slowly start creating my own game about gladiators, relying on relative and pleasing only to me, historical accuracy.
For example, a feature with gladiator helmets. I approached this issue with all seriousness and still suffer with them. As it turned out, not everything is so clear. It is not always clear what kind of helmet this or that gladiator had. But in general, it is possible to achieve what was planned, in terms of historical accuracy. But in terms of game mechanics, of course, not everything is so rosy. I would even say that there is no end in sight to the problems, and it takes a lot of time and effort to solve them.
I make a game in my free time, after work, slowly but surely moving in the intended direction
