OneTwo: my submission for Newbies Game Jam (2022 - 1)

Hi!

I just published my submission OneTwo for the Newbies Game Jam (2022 - 1) with minimalism as the main theme.

OneTwo is a simple abstract puzzle game: few simple shapes, few colors, few animations, few sounds, and simple controls and game mechanics. The game objective: uncover, find and match all the pairs of adjacent blocks of the same color. Try to solve it by minimizing your moves counter. You can try it at https://neurodivergentgames.itch.io/onetwo!

Because of my general ignorance about game development (especially in the audio/image/art/graphics side of it) and because of the jam's fixed deadline, there can still be some bugs in the game: feel free to point them out in the comments!

Here are some (low quality it seemed like, but good enough) in-game gifs:

Hi NeurodivergentGames,

I play tested your game 😄

Here are some points of potential improvement:

  1. When the game started for the first time, I didn't get what to do. It showed "Play" but I didn't get instantly, that I just need to click anywhere. I think it would be easier to give the user a clue, that clicking anywhere is needed to start the game, for instance.
  2. I liked the music, very easygoing. Suits well to the overall ambient of the game. I would have been happy to be able to reduce the volume instead of muting it totally. The same for the sound effects.
  3. The color palette you used is also great! So gently colors!
  4. All in all I like the game idea!

If you could also play test my recent game "Rolltastic" I would be really happy to get some feedback from your side 👍

Hi! Thank you very much for the feedback! I totally agree with what you have pointed out! As soon as the voting ends I will upload some updates integrating also your suggestions! Now I'm going to try your "Rolltastic"!

(sorry for the quite ugly English)

Oh no!! I just noticed that "Rolltastic" runs on Windows... and I'm on a macOs! I'm sorry...

Reading the project page and looking at the screenshots I can say that I'm intrigued!  The controls and game objective seem clean and intuitive: I like that! And in the screenshots, I noticed that the ball is actually a polyhedron-like shape... I really like that touch!

Many thanks for the feedback! I wish you all the best for your game jam ranking! 🐹
