Application error

I try to open the game and it tells me to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Runtime. Okay. I hit yes! The... only option i'm given is to close or uninstall. Okay? So I do that. It then gives me this error.

So... I try again. This time it actually prompts it to install. I accept the agreement and install it. And then! The same error. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game and then installing it on my other hard drive. Nothing changes. Help please?

Edit: I've gone ahead and made a quick video of it. The black screen is whenever I was prompted for administrator permission to tweak files and such.

Yeah, I'm having the same issue on my PC.  I'm currently installing the UE4 prerequisites for a second time now.

ue4 prerequisites should fix it though

It's trying to do that. Unless I'm misunderstanding what it's displaying in the video (which is what happens every time), but it seems to me 'UE4 prerequisites setup' would be exactly what you're telling me should fix it. Instead it becomes a forever loop. If you haven't watched the whole video I posted in my original post, please do. As soon as the video ends, it's basically just rinse and repeat. I do the weird uninstalling the prerequisites it prompts? That error. I install it via the same process? That error. I try to open again and am prompted to uninstall the UE4 again.

hm, maybe visual studio redistributables 2015 - 2019 and directx9 end-user runtime's missing?

Try downloading the games files instead of using the itch launcher

Launching it from the install files worked! Frustrating that the itch launcher is botching it but it does work! Much appreciated

np i had a similar problem with a few games so i stopped using it a while back myself :P

I wonder how itch.io launcher messes up applications, instead of launch them, you download the same thing anyway, rendering it useless.

It makes launching most things easier for me. I'm kind of average tech savvy and I get overwhelmed kinda easy so I've gotten all kinds of lost and confused trying to navigate some games' files on their own lmao. So usually itch.io launcher makes things not terrible and frustrating for me. Don't know why it decided BBPSX didn't belong in the 'I function well' category

yeah, the launcher mostly modified something in there.
