You have to Finish the dungeon quest so you can get a second Emblem, to unlock the painting in the temple, then when thane gives you the bloody rag go to the temple...hope this helps
yea i feel you, after not playing for awhile you could literally forget EVERYTHING or half. I be so confused when i start again...so i end up just starting over. im gonna do the same as you cause whew.
