I don't exactly know if this is a bug or not, but slicing the shaft of a Spidertron will let it magically create bombs out of nowhere, which is sort of strange.

That has existed since the beggining, one of the quirkier features of this game :P, like the fact that robots instantly die if you slice their right arm off.
