Zombieville USA 2

  • Zombieville USA 2 is a arcade-style, action shooter game available for mobile IOS and Android devices
  • It was developed by Mika Mobile
  • The player plays as a survivor who defends him or herself from hordes of zombies with a variety of weapons

Last Update was 5 yrs ago which included multiplayer and iCloud changes

Proposed Update

Add a new game mode that will be an extension to endless mode.

Escort Mode - Protect survivors you come across in the level until the chopper arrives to pick them up.

- Can be played in both solo and co-op

- Will require an AI system to be implemented

Required system changes for update

The Deploy button for the level selection system will now have to consider two modes that the player can chose to play - Standard or Escort  (Only when Endless Mode is the selected level)

The mode selection panel will appear over the map and the player can change which mode is selected. When a mode is selected, the player can press the deploy button again to then transition to the level and play the game. The deploy button will not be selectable until the player chooses a mode.

In Escort mode, the player will run into survivors defending themselves against zombies. All survivors you come across will have a weapon they use to defend themselves. Survivors will follow the player when in range. If Escort mode was being played in co-op, then the survivor would always follow the host unless the host was offscreen away from both the other player and the survivor. In that case the survivor would follow the other player until the host is in range again.

AI system required to be implemented

After a minute has past, the helicopter will appear to pick up the survivor. The player can choose to go with them or continue traveling the level to search for more survivors to escort. Zombies will not spawn when the helicopter shows up in escort mode. This decision will give the players breathing room, and a chance to decide whether or not to leave with the survivor. The zombie spawner system will have to be adjusted for this mode. The helicopter will leave with the survivor on it after 6 seconds has passed after the survivor gets on the helicopter. 6 seconds is a fair amount of time for the players to decide and make their way towards the helicopter if they wish. The helicopter system will have to be adjusted for when it appears and when it leaves in this mode.

The level completion system will have to include another statistic in Escort mode, which is the number of survivors saved. This statistic will be called rescues and it will also be a factor into how much score and money the players earn.

The systems mentioned that will have to be adjusted will cause some adjustments to be made for the multiplayer co-op system. A majority of the changes will be multiplayer synchronization between the survivor AI that is being escorted on screen for both players. These multiplayer co-op changes only apply if Escort mode is being played in co-op.

Lastly, more achievements related to Escort mode can be added to the Game Center achievements, and new leaderboards can be added. The leaderboards can include total survivors saved, high score for Escort mode, and high score for Escort mode co-op. Veteran players who enjoy completion and competition in the game would be pleased to see new leaderboards and achievements.

Very recently, the studio released the Steam page for the soon to be released Zombieville USA 3D. Right now people who are signed onto Steam can wishlist the game. It is possible that fans of the series will go back and play the second game as they anticipate and wait for the third game in the series. When the third game is released, they may go back for nostalgia purposes as well. When Zombieville USA 3D is released there will most likely be players playing the game that are new to the series. The players who enjoy the game may download and play the second game in the series due to their curiosity. Both old and new players alike will be introduced to the new update when they play the second game in the series. With both old and new players playing the second game, the development team would be able to gather feedback on what the players think of Escort mode. If Escort mode does well, then it would be strongly recommended to include the mode in the third game. If not, then the damage done would only be in the second game not the third. Since the framework of how Escort mode is structured would already be completed and refined by then, it wouldn’t be as difficult to include the mode in the third game.

Will there be possible revenue growth?

There would be revenue growth from new players buying the game, but mainly due to their curiosity after playing the third game and not the update itself. It’s possible but unlikely that players would buy the game just to play a game mode that isn’t currently featured in the next game.
