I contacted them, explained the concept behind our visual novel series ( which is ironically strange - the Arcane City Series was originally written almost 20 years ago as a tv series that would have happened if the fledgling tv network had not folded, and many of the concepts - unbeknownst to me at the time - were very similar to a lot of the ideas weaved through nitro+'s stuff, especially Saya and Totono), Explained the relation to the Lovecraft Mythos etc, asked for permission to use the characters and continue the 'white room' storyline and weave it with the Arcane City / Lovecraft Mythology. They said yes. It isn't as big a deal as it is in the west, to be honest. There are way less hoops to jump through and plus we're playing with a giant multiverse of stories ^_^
