Non-Functioning Inventory

I played this game a few weeks ago, and it worked perfectly fine. I unlocked the boat, was pretty far into the game. But I went back into the game yesterday, and all the items were gone from my inventory. Even worse, I could not hold more than one item (stick, pickaxe, etc.) in my inventory at a time. Or perhaps they were in my inventory and I just could not tell because it only showed how many feathers I had and did not show any of the other items I had collected. Please help me :') I was really enjoying this game and how relaxing it is. It says it's fully updated. Also, I am unsure as to whether or not it was like this before, but the file is the "OLD" version. Any methods to fix or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hey! Really sorry you're having this issue.

Could you answer a few questions for me?

1. What OS are you on?

2. Are you playing from the Itch.io launcher?

3. Can you check the version in Options > Info > Version?

4. Are you able to find the log file for me?

Windows: C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\LocalLow\adamgryu\A Short Hike\Player.log Mac: ~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

If you can, can you search it for the word Exception and copy the text around it for me to see?

Thank you for the quick response!

1. I'm using a Windows 10 Pro laptop that has an OS build of 19042.1288.

2. Yes, I'm playing from the app, but I can launch it from the .exe in File Explorer if needed.

3. Version 1.4.1

4. I found Player.log and Player-prev.log, but I could not find "Exception" in either. I opened them in Notepad and then copy-pasted them into a Google Doc so I could search them because it wasn't letting me in Notepad.

I can also start a new game if needed, but I'm not sure if that would fix it, so I won't for now. Let me know if you need to know anything else. Thanks again.

Ah thanks for checking, I thought there might be something useful in the logs, but I guess not.

A few things:

1. Have you tried downloading the latest version? You should be able to download version 1.9. If not from the launcher, then from the Itch.io page. Does the save file work properly in that version?

2. Could you share the save file (either by Google Drive or email: hello [@] adamgryu.com) for me to inspect?
The save file is located near the logs.

I tried downloading the latest version from the launcher before I asked for help, but I didn't think to try it on the web browser. Thank you for this suggestion! It worked, and I'm pretty sure I have all my inventory stuff back. My play session the other day didn't save for some reason, but I didn't do very much anyways, so I can just redo it. I'll let you know if anything else weird happens, but I think it's fine now that it's not the old version anymore. The launcher wouldn't let me download 1.9 because I got it from a bundle and didn't register it as bought I think, but the web browser worked fine.
