[ANSWERED] Trying to run on Mac but getting following error: -bash: ./jav-it: cannot execute binary file

I've read it works on Mac (refer to https://itch.io/t/1443113/command-not-found-when-trying-to-download) but I can't seem to get it running. I'm trying to run the Linux version using terminal.

Even running the most basic command (./jav-it) gets me the error -bash: ./jav-it: cannot execute binary file

My mac is running x86_64-apple-darwin20.
MacOS: 11.5.2 (Big Sur)
Jav-it version: 1.6.1

It seems like a Mac compatability issue but I don't get why other Mac users are able to run it.

Mac builds are no longer produced and are not supported since I do not own Mac hardware to properly debug it. I'm told that the latest Patreon version of Jav-It works with Big Sur (I do release totally unsupported builds for MacOS on Patreon), but that's as far as I know. If running on MacOS is important to you, there are the following options:

- Install VirtualBox, Ubuntu 20.04, and use the Linux version of Jav-It on MacOS.

or

- Support the project on Patreon and try using the unsupported Patreon build of Jav-It on MacOS directly.

Unfortunately because there are so many different MacOS versions, installed software, and updates, it becomes impossible for me to help people resolve issues without personally owning MacOS hardware. Since Apple is hostile to people running their software without a Mac, I don't really have any alternative to trying to get support working.

Hey do you know if there is now a Patreon build that supports Monterey?

Ok, thanks for offering the alternatives! I will try both! :)
