Hi everyone, we are a team of researchers at the University of Basel (Switzerland) and at Utrecht university (The Netherlands), investigating the role of digital fiction in our lives and individual differences in reading/gaming habits.

As Interactive Fiction lovers, we should bring attention to its major role in the contemporary gaming and narrative scene! We would really appreciate if you'd consider taking part in our research study through an online survey addressing the multi-faceted experience of reading Digital Fiction (from Twine to IF, hypertext) from several angles: genre preferences, personal reasons for reading, and impactful reading experiences (if you had any). We also ask our participants to read two very short excerpts of a novel and provide their impressions.

If it sounds interesting to you, please take a look at our survey: on the first page you'll find a more complete description and all the information on data protection and consent. The study has been reviewed and approved by the Ethics Board of the University of Basel.

We really value your help in this research endeavour! As a small thank you for your participation, you can take part in our raffle for 30 gift cards worth 25€ each (Netflix, Steam, Amazon, Apple Store or Google Play).

Please feel free to share the link with anyone who might be interested, but do not post it on "untrustworthy" platforms (we've already had our fair share of trouble with bots...).

Hi! This is an awesome survey, it was very fun and also you managed to follow a lot if not all guide lines regarding how to make a scientific and user friendly survey!!

Would me sharing it on twitter be helpful? Most of my followers/mutuals/friends too enjoy visual novels in particular, but if twitter is a platform you don't think is good to find people to survey for this case, then of course I wont!

Have a great day!

Hi, thanks for participating! I'm really glad to hear that you enjoyed taking the survey.  Your help is appreciated :)

Also, of course you can share it on Twitter. Data collection should be open for about another 36 hours! If it's easier for you, you can also retweet my post about this, which you find here (https://twitter.com/cristinaa_loi/status/1423306397735919618

Have a wonderful day!
