Here's a post answering some common questions about ATLYSS and what it's about.

  • I tried the build (0.095e test build) and it looks and feels nothing like what I've seen recently.  Why is that?

The builds released on itch.io are from 2021, and was the last iteration of the project, where I focused more on wanting to make it a rouge-lite experience. They are also... well, for the lack of a better way of saying it, terrible to play. I've learned a lot since then, and because of that I decided to re-do the game entirely in 2022.

  • How much will the game cost?
  • Within the range of 10-15 dollars USD.
  • When will the game release?
  • When it's done. I know this is a commonly said term but giving promises with deadlines isn't exactly in my expertise.
  • Will this game be on mobile / ported to consoles?
  • At this point in development, no. The game will be focused on being released on PC first.
  • There's jiggle physics and characters with large assets. Does this mean it's a H-Game?
  • Nope, it's not. It won't ever be either, at least out of the box from my own development.
  • Can you turn off the jiggle physics and restrain the sizes of character proportions?
  • Yes, that will be a setting that you can toggle on and off on the fly in the game.
  • Is there multiplayer in this?
  • Yes, you can play net-play through Steam hosting (dedicated hosting is a TBD) w/o port forwarding to play with friends.
  •  Is this a MMORPG?
  • While a lot of the elements of the game are similar to a MMORPG, it is not a MMORPG. I call it a "ORPG" (Online RPG), but it can also be played in singleplayer as well. Ideally, it's best to keep it within the 12-20 playercount range at maximum. The game is more or less like PSO 1 or Diablo where the world is more interconnected than a "Open Persistant World" game like WoW.
  • What's the story of the game?
  • The direction I'm looking to go towards for ATLYSS is more a show and not tell type of experience.
  • Will this game support MAC? Or Linux?
  • No plans to make native MAC builds for the game. There will be Linux builds in the future however.
  • How are your characters saved?
  • Characters are saved locally in your ATLYSS game directory, which is easily accessible. They are binary formatted, so they will appear as standard files. Your character that you play in singleplayer can be transitioned and saved over multiplayer, and vice versa
  • Is there gamepad / controller support?
  • There are plans to implement this, but it probably won't be for a while. A lot of the UI/UX is programmed around keyboard/mouse implementation.
