Game not opening? (MacOS)

Hi, I'm receiving an error whenever I try to open the application; Finder creates a pop-up stating "The application 'Game' can't be opened." I've tried moving it to a different location but nothing changes. The file permissions are set correctly so I should be able to edit/read/open with no issues. Am I missing a required program to open RPG Maker games? I've seen other users with this similar problem but their posts didn't receive a response. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks! Hope I can try it out soon.

Did you extract the game files from the .zip?

Yes, I did (Most .zips will open automatically with Archive Utility with MacOS). This is a screenshot of what appears to be more specific.

The (?) to the left does not do anything, if you're wondering. I tried showing the package contents for the application to see if there's anything I can open - all I see is the info.plist, MacOS folder, PkgInfo, Resources and Versions folder.

Maybe this helps: https://superuser.com/questions/1345755/how-to-fix-the-application-cant-be-opene...

Hi, thanks for responding - I ended up finding a solution.

I downloaded The Unarchiver and extracting the game files via that somehow made the application executable.

For anyone else who might be stuck, perform these steps:

1. Find The Unarchiver on the Mac App Store and download it.

2. Downloading the .zip will automatically extract using Archive Utility (default) and will break the file, so ignore it and right click the .zip - there should be a drop down with Open With -> The Unarchiver.

3. The game should now function.

I have no idea why this works... but apparently making .zip or TAR archives with inappropriate settings will strip many file attributes.
