LAN Caching for Desktop App

Is there any documentation on what would be required to cache Itch downloads using a local caching proxy?

I’d like to implement a config for LAN Cache (http://lancache.net/docs/containers/monolithic/) for Itch as I use it for some private deployments of content (it’s amazing how difficult it is to find a solution for private software deployment and caching!) and would like to have a local cache setup at the locations where I’m deploying to, to help mitigate my impact on both the CDN and also the impact on the site’s internet connection.

As a side note, can butler be used for no-frills downloading or just for uploading right now…?
