Hello everyone
My name is Alek. I am 33 years old and at the time being I am a hobbyist game developer. I started getting into game dev about a year ago and I realized in my journey since then, that this is something I want to do. I love creating the world of my game Pockets of Time, and I dabbled a bit in coding, but quickly realized that coding is not something I enjoy. I did manage to create a prototype "playground" level where I could test how to import the assets I created. Everything you will see in the video below, is hand drawn and animated, digitally of course.
Pockets of Time is set to be a pure 2d metroidvania like platformer without combat. Exploration and meaningful choice in dialogue is something I want to be an integral part of the game, meaning the game will be narrative heavy. Another aspect I want to put emphasis on is the platforming part, which I want to be challenging and completing the challenges the game has should make the player feel fulfilled but not burned out. That's the gist of it.
I want to find a mature person, that is also passionate about creating a platformer. Preferably someone that is already knowledgeable with coding and Unity, even better if you are familiar with Unity 2d. That being said, I don't want only someone that will code, but someone that will create the game with me and will have full access to the creative process. Like I wrote in the title, I want a partner, not an employee. So creative people will have a big plus.
The person I want to work with needs to believe in equality and inclusivity of all groups of people, regardless of gender, race, sexuality, etc, because if this project takes off, we might be getting new members and I don't want to find out then that our world views are misaligned.
And lastly, I live in Switzerland, so I will be biased towards people that live around here or surrounding countries, but that is not a must and if I find an exceptional person that I believe will fit the glove I will not hesitate to go along with that person. Although I live in Switzerland my primary language of communication is English.
The player character is more or less a placeholder and I want to update it in the future to something i like more.
Here is what I want the game to look like and to an extent feel like. Like I said, everything is created by me, including the coding part:
I made this testing level back in February after which I had little time to work on the project due to IRL situations.
I drew these concepts in the past month or so and it is the art direction that I want the game to head in:
