Adam's Route tips (From my own experience)

Hey guys,

Adam's route is.. not remotely as difficult as one may believe, though it requires some common sense and steps that may seem counter-intuitive in nature (ie, NOT hanging out with Carlos and Adam when given the chance)

First steps - You need to have finished the game once before to enable Easy Mode. Also, You'll want to be on the 'Carlos Route', please see below for tips.

Here is where things will get counter-intuitive, at least for a few steps.

I believe on September 2nd or 3rd, you'll get an option to go to the Q/A OR hang out with Adam and Carlos. Go to QA.

When you go to QA, you will most likely chicken out, but you WILL meet Jake there. This is VERY important to unlock Jake as an option for future visits. Otherwise, from my personal experience, you'll either chicken out each time, or you'll only get Adam to go with you, and that costs you a hit on your progress.

From there, proceed as you would on Carlos's route. This is primarily to get him to trust you, but do NOT trigger his 'freak outs'. Bob wrote a wonderful guide about what those are, so I recommend you read that. Ie, get nachos, so Carlos will go with Adam and not freak out in the theatre, don't go swimming or running, don't check on Carlos in October.

The goal here is to spend as much time with them as possible. You'll know that Carlos has some interest in you if he 'looks at you' during certain points, such as when you're studying, etc.

If you're close to Carlos and then you see the scene in the frat house where Adam and Carlos have to clean up from the party, and if Adam is casual with you (versus tense if you're locked on to Carlos), then this is a good sign. It's an even better sign if you find Carlos in your room on.. October 6th, I think it is, and he confesses to you that he is gay, but does not try to ask you out.

During this time, you should also be focusing on homework/studying as much as possible, either alone or with your group. It's okay if you have to sacrifice some Carlos/Adam scenes to ensure you pass the exams.

At a certain point, I believe it's after Carlos visits Elliot in the hospital, Carlos will have a bit of a breakdown, and you're given the option to stay with Adam or Follow Carlos. If you follow Carlos to the pool, you guys have a heart-to-heart about the difficulties of being gay, etc. This shows to Adam that you care deeply for Carlos. Choose the answers that ensure that Carlos knows that you and Adam care about him.

During this  time, you'll start having feelings for Adam and more opportunities to hang with Adam only.

If you get the below event, it's almost a certainty that you're locked in on Adam. Keep studying, keep hanging with Adam and Carlos, etc. Then on the last day of class, you and Adam will share a moment, with some encouragement from Carlos. The second option that doesn't lead to the first option gets you a collectable and a title, I believe, though the first option will not lock you out of the ending. (Yes, that sentence may not have been clear, but I didn't want to spoil the experience for anyone. Let me put it this way - The 'casual' chain ends with you getting a collectable and an unlockable in Adam's bio. The 'risque' chain does not give you those items. Save when you get to those choices. Play one, then play the other after reloading. Both are worth it. ;))

All in all, I would say that it's worth pursuing Adam, it's a great little addition to the story. Please note that all playthroughs differ, and you may have reached the end of Adam's route with your own method. This is just one of them. If you have any questions or need in-depth info, lemme know!

Is it impossible to get Adam's route right with normal mode instead of easy?

Developer

It can be done in normal mode; it's just really, really hard

And there's nothing additional gained from doing so (you get the same collectables and achievements in both normal and easy mode)
