Apparently this functionality stop working from V9, also when used, the backup message appears in the left bottom corner of the screen, not centred anymore, but when done, the information cannot be transfer to another bot.
I'm using diskettes that I already have from a previous save done in v9

You will see that I have a crude data item in the inventory, try to use it to backup some bot and then the crude data gets empty.

PS: is saved with v9
