After playing through the Demo and beating the one current boss, these are my thought on the game in its current state
- The first and most important is it desperately needs an editor. The story suffers heavily from spelling mistakes and grammatical errors throughout. I assume this is because the Dev not being a native English speaker. These make it very difficult and confusing to follow the games storyline
- On the subject of storyline, it also needs a fair amount of polish. Currently you get the majority of the story dumped in your lap during a rather long (Almost a full five minutes) and tedious video at the start of the game, it not only needs to be edited down and polished to help it flow a bit smoother and help get the story across, but i also personally feel that instead of just dumping the information on new players, it would be far more enjoyable to uncover the story piece by piece as you play, this will help immerse you in the game world and promote exploring around to uncover more about the world and what happened to it.
- The main meat of the demo (Once you complete the tutorial) has no proper direction (For lack of a better term), you start the level and find a giant sword in the ground, what this sword is and what it does is not explained, you only find out through your own trail and error its a place to save your game and heal up your character (And eventfully will be used as a fast travel point), you then continue along and find a castle, inside of which lurks the first boss, Who the castle belongs to and why it has a giant blob in it (Is the blob the king gone mad with stolen power? Did the blob attack the resident of the castle and force them to flee?) is never explained or explored even after killing the boss. The world itself seems to be made up of so many interesting and curious parts, and yet despite the intense focus on story at the beginning of the game, none of those parts are ever elaborated on.
I understand its still an early demo, but the inconstancy with the story (Over explaining some things, under explaining others) was what created the biggest disconnected between me and my enjoyment of the game.
Moving onto the technical side of the game, i had a few issues during my playthrough
- Im not the big fan of the save file system currently in the demo
You are given three slots but the top two slots will just not work, only the demo will only let you actually use the third slot.
This created a bit of confusing for me when i first started up the game and was quite annoying going into the game.
- The game does not like you clicking away from it
I tabbed out of the game to lower the volume and this caused the game to crash.
Curious i tried it a few more times and sometimes it would crash, sometimes it would be fine with it.
it also had the same tendency to crash whenever i clicked over to a different monitor
- I had a serious problem in combat where the game would just ignore my inputs
Attacks, blocks, dodges, jumps.
i several times had the problem where i would push a button and.......nothing would happen.
my character would just stand there.
i originally thought i was out of stamina but the problem would continue even with full stamina
i then tried to see if the enemy was hitting me and stun locking me, but regardless if i was right in the middle of a group of enemy's or standing on my own away from them, the problem persisted
I feel the game has potential and vaguely reminds me of a few old flash games which gave me nostalgic vibes as a played the Demo
But the current state has a few big issues and a suffers from a lack of polish.
