I first got into game dev because I learned of RPG Maker and started watching YouTube tutorials. I knew I wanted to make something small and manageable, but at the same time I wanted it to be fun and quirky - a little bit different.
So this is what I ended up with: Get the Kids to School - a recreation of my daily trials of wrangling two uncooperative kids from their beds to the door.
It doesn't have advanced RPG elements like combat and it's essentially a series of fetch quests, but I did try to make use of variables and other controls to create an immersive experience with an interactive home that somewhat feels real, and some scripting of character behavior. It was also quite fun and insightful to troubleshoot any game-breaking glitches that come up if a player doesn't hit the objectives in the order you intended.
Anyway, I hope you have as much fun playing it as I did making it! Here is the link again!
PS Try to find the easter egg ending that results in your death!
